"Oh no, don't tell me you care..."
When Noah told people to get on the Ark because a flood was coming, they laughed at him. They died. When Jack and Rose told people to get off the Titanic because the ship was sinking, they laughed at him. They died.
When Al Gore told people to stop emitting greenhouse gases....
I'm not trying to be sensationalist, or demand that people live in communes sustained by compost and recycling. But why is it that people write you off if you care enough about something to want to do something about it?
Apathy is the currency for social acceptance - Lord forbid if you have a desire to do something about the global warming, the water crisis, the obesity crisis, the political crisis.
I hate dystopic novels just as much as the next person. I can understand why people don't want to know. But this isn't fiction. This is real. Last week's 30 degree weather in October was real. A NSW farmer attempts suicide every 4 days because of the drought. That's real.
So please don't tell me you don't care. Or at the very least, don't think me crazy for caring.
